Online Degree Certificates

Furthering your education has many benefits, not the least of which is getting you a better job. You know you want to do it, but you’re not sure how much time and money you want to invest in it. Just like a degree from a physical campus, online degrees take years to complete and are a lot of hard work. Maybe you don’t have the money to invest in a full bachelor’s degree education, or maybe you already have a degree and you don’t want to go through all of it again. A certificate might be just the thing for you.

What is a certificate? Essentially a certificate has you do the core coursework of a degree without all the extras. You still have a goal and something to show for your work when you’re done. For those of you who already have a bachelor’s degree, this could be right up your alley. Depending on the college, your general education classes may or may not transfer. This means you can end up taking courses over again, when what you really want is just to take classes in your desired specialization.  The coursework you do is the same as that being done by students pursuing a full degree, you just get to jump right into it from the beginning.

A certificate also means less investment in money and time. You will probably end up taking a fraction of the classes a degree seeking student will take. Those tuition costs can really add up. Certificates also allow you to take lighter course loads. If you want to finish a bachelor’s degree in four years or less you have to be willing to take on more classes at a time. A certificate can be completed in a couple years or less with just taking one or two classes a semester. If you’re strapped for time or find it hard to work in school around a demanding job a certificate will give you a good edge. You don’t have to push yourself too hard, and you don’t have to look forward to years and years of school work.

While a certificate may not pack the punch a full degree will, in many cases it is a perfect option. In today’s busy world there is still an educational option for those with the desire but not the means. Many fields look favorably on a certificate as proof of formal education in a specific field.
